What we think: This is hands down our best selling kite. It has a reputation that is outstanding. This kites has been in our personal, school and demo quiver for many years. You won’t be dissapointed with Cabrinha quality and design. This kite does it all. It is great for boosting big floaty jumps, awesome for free riding or even unhooking. If you are new to the sport, this kite is great for learning and then advancing on. The larger sizes are not the best for riding waves. It is a pretty powerful kite with a great range.

The 2015 switchblade is Cabrinha’s best model yet. Changes made to the new switchblade kite design are minimal. Let’s be honest, what needs to be changed. Changes made to the bar mark the major differences here. The 2015 Overdrive 1x bar is what we have been waiting for from Cabrinha for a long time. The quick release is all new and easier than ever to use. You can actually operate the QR with one hand. They stuck with a below the bar swivel and above the bar depower. Every new control bar comes with the Cabrinha short leash. If you have ever messed with the quick release saftey system of the 2014 Overdrive then you will really appreciate the hassle free direct approach to the 2015. Cabrinha has also done away with the saftey line that extends up the front-line. The new four line bar system splits above the bar similarly to a Slingshot, Naish or Liquid Force bar and line system. The Overdrive system still allows for adjustment of bar length on the fly.

The design of the kite lends to riders who play in a wide variety of riding conditions. This design is marked by silky smooth transitions, low bar pressure, excellent wind range and consistent power. There is really nothing bad to say about this kite except that the larger 14m is a tad heavy for light wind due to the 5-strut design.

The 2015 Switchblade is good for any rider. If we had to pinpoint the perfect customer for the kite, it would be the beginning to advanced rider that wants to ride flat water in the morning and surf waves on a downwinder in the afternoon. The versitility of this one can not be beat.
